Sorted it, well its quiter
Hi all, well think I now have the Maytag noise down to a level that is acceptable, well it is to me, did a bit googling as to how to quieten down a 2 stroke exhaust, saw that if a silencer interior baffle, the removable type, was repacked, covered , with sound deadening matting noise would be less.
With using flexi pipe there is no baffle so made one from the top mesh part of a disposable barbeque by rolling it round a piece of 15mm copper pipe, the flexi pipe has an I D of 32mm so should still be plenty of space for exhaust gasses to pass, made it approx. 12 inches long, then wired it to keep it in the tube shape, next bought a piece of matting from fleabay, wrapped it round wired it to stay on and put it inside flexi pipe, had mate Rooksey here yesterday to see the first testing of it and WOW what a noise reduction, you can now listen to it without ear plugs, will see what other engine men/ladies think at next months crank up.

I think it was on here that someone mentioned that if the exhaust is vertical the perceived noise level is lower, maybe worth experimenting with the exhaust fixed to a stake?

To reduce noise from a exhaust in the past I have packed them with stainless steel pan scrubbers from pound land it worked well and can be taken out and cleaned
