Has anyone got any tips or experience on theft prevention for a Petter AD1 + generator at an allotment?

Theft prevention- immobilisation is easy, I just drive scaff pipes into the ground and build a frame. It's the two legged vermin who will just see 50 kilos of mixed metal that I want to slow down.

thats a million dollar question, dont have where it can be seen, dig a large hole line it and fill with reinforced concrete, sink long studs into it that you can bolt the engine to then make or buy security fasteners, you wont stop them but you could deter them or slow them down.

Agree with Maryalice, what ever you do will only slow down any potential thief, but after having a think, with a concrete plinth and bolted down, then with heavy flat bars also set in the concrete welded over the base / engine genny mounts, securing them and stopping the thief using a hammer and chisel to nip the nuts off or using a battery grinder, my thoughts with the heavy flat bars making it more of task to get into the actual fixings might just break the deal for a thief.

Just a thought. if you have not already considered it, but then you would not want to be moving it yourself in the near future if your making it pretty permanent.

I take it you have it in a shed?

Battery-powered cctv cameras are an added deterrent, well unless they disable them...
