Possibly a petty AS engine with compressor
Hi all. I'm a new member and was hoping that some of you knowledgable peeps could help identify this engine as I'm wondering weather to sell it on or do it up, it sparks but the fuel line is rotten. Thanks Gary

Can you post a photo or two to give us an idea of condition?

Re: Possibly a petty AS engine with compressor
Might be an AS but I'd say it is just an A, needs a tank and the right cowl as that's a home made one but a nice set

Re: Possibly a petty AS engine with compressor
Very easy, looking at your one it has a different manifold, it might be an AS after all. Shame the cowl is missing, unless you find an engine number on the end of the crank or on the flywheel you may never know...

Re: Possibly a petty AS engine with compressor
Hi Gary, you could email Petter expert Jim Perkins to see if he can throw any more light on your engine.
His details are here:
http://www.petterengines.co.uk/contact.html
I think your engine is either an A or an AS. The nameplate is missing as it would have been attached to the top part of the cowling (which has been replaced by the blue cowling you have today). Jim may be able to tell you for sure if A or AS, and maybe where to look for the serial number.

Re: Possibly a petty AS engine with compressor
I thought that all the AS engines were supplied to the forces, usually the RAF? All the ones I have encountered have been ex RAF ones, and they all ran at high rpm!

Re: Possibly a petty AS engine with compressor
Yes it's for sale as I would like an engine that's running already, I love the smell of them and the sound is fantastic. I would like one with lots of moving parts on the outside.
