the articles in the American magazine are interesting. the people at wade in America have been very helpful with manuals, history and are currently trying to make contact with someone who can help with the chain.
work is continuing on the cooling system, trying to connect the tank to the engine, unfortunately the mop bucket is the wrong shape to make connecting it easy.
still at least I have a mop bucket now.

the cooling bucket is now piped up, ( go away and come back tomorrow, and the answer is looking at you straight in the face )
the trolley now has wheels, they are still in need on a coat of paint. next job is to connect the fuel tank and set up the carb.

I connected the fuel tank up to the engine today, started it running messed with the timing and it ran well for 5 minutes if a little loud (no silencer) then turned it off, don't want to annoy the neighbours. next jobs are to make a silencer and add some weight to the front of the trolley to stop it moving around.

I,ve been doing a bit more on the wade, fitted a ballast resistor to the ignition system and played about with the timing to get it running slower. still got to do the silencer and fix a leaky fuel mixer. the cooling tanks needs to be bigger. so still plenty to do over the rest of the summer.

For the first few runs they often generate a lot more heat.  Then as they free up there is less friction (=heat), and less power required to overcome the friction.  
I've been fooled on two occasions by this and enlarged the cooling capacity only to end up reinstating my initial cooling set up in order to get them to run hot enough!

now that the summer is coming to an end, thoughts are turning to the wade drag saw that is sat in the shed. I still have several jobs to do, including a better cooling tank (it needs to be heavier). I just have one more outing this year nymr at goathland in October, so plenty of time to play.

hello everyone,
I spent the afternoon working on an improved cooling tank. the old tank was not heavy enough and it let the water splash about too much.

this tank makes the end of the trolley heavier and stops the trolley walking about while the engine is running.
