looking a bit better after some work with the plane and sander
given it a coat of tung oil as its a darker oil so after a few more coats il mount the engine back on and then get measuring up for the metal work .

Re: oh no not again ... Amanco chore boy
fuel tank has been now welded with a drain plug , just a hydraulic fitting with a internal 1/4 bsp thread for the plug . Then the other part welded to a square of sheet as the tank is around 0.5 mm thin
and then welded to the tank .
has to flush it out with white spirit and then shove the hose through and now no orange rust is coming out , so thinking i might add a tank filter on the pickup .

Re: oh no not again ... Amanco chore boy
My one will be good when it's finished. Major hurdle is that it needs a liner.

Its not just because its blowing past the rings ?Lewis MacRae wrote:My one will be good when it's finished. Major hurdle is that it needs a liner.
If so dont worry majority of amanco's blow smoke past the rings as after all how old are they ????

In all honesty I can't remember as it was at a show we took the piston out but I think it was a pretty big one

remember restorating doesnt mean just paint it like quite a few people think .... restoration is mechanically overhaul it and paint it to your finish you like .Lewis MacRae wrote:no it doesn't run unfortunately but i'm going to restore this one this winter
