thanks but to late as ive done bolth my new coils that way ,as there is no spring loaded contact ht leadds on these and new coils have no other way to connect them lol
but i heated the solder onto ht lead and then bolth direct to coil as minimises heating time on coil
second hand and or replacing nackered ht leads
good coils ive used in the past i cut all but the last 1" of old ht off and solder the new to that

Good to hear you have your parts that you needed and can continue the rebuild. The paint works looking good and a nice touch with the small paint brush to high light the writing.

thanks stu and diddy
im trying to do it back as close to the villiers info i have for the wx11 s sales picse ofcourse black green and white
the colours offered were matt or gloss black ,grey and green oooh the choices lol
but i felt the castings detail were to well done ,to be left hardly noticable
but other than that original factory shades from bits ive found on corners here and there had colour matched in old styled paint
great flow from the brush and the shine i great too

Re: VILLIERS WX11 LZH 2 stroke restoration number 2 for 2012
Great restoration Kev, one small observation is the cooling water in these Villiers should be filled until the top pipe is covered otherwise you won't get thermosyphoning. Its fine to run it nice and hot for a short run but for a day at a show it would probably need filling up to cover the top pipe, works a bit like a tank cooled engine.
Cheers

good old "franks tanks"
ive just ordered on from frank,
for the amanco for the chap i got it going for,
with the help from the forum lads
"you now who you are THANKS AGAIN LADS
,nice old chap just im not looking to pay over half the restored engines total value for one off him
cant fault his work and the finished quality of his tanks is spot on
just to pricy for villiers its all the work involved with that halfmoon shape and middle baffle in the tank
this engine has a free standing 2 gallon tank for it as this was a option in the sales leflet and the also did a square 2 gallon tank that bolted onto the 25 gallon square water tank ,bit like the header pic of the victorias but square not round
the man i ebayed the engine off sent it up to me as it was bolted into the concrete floor ,but they were rusted and rounded off and there was no electric there, so he was getting his mate to fetch a styl saw or battery grinder to get it out for me, but it was gas axed off instead so the bottom of the stand is missing so will have to mount it as is to the trolley for it and soon
1000 engine this weekend going tommorow to set up

Re: VILLIERS WX11 LZH 2 stroke restoration number 2 for 2012
well my first wx11 LZHA
that i was going to keep in its original paint
turned out to be a later slapped on bare alloy and metal coat of paint
that has weathered and flacked of to look old
its upset me slightly as wanted to keep an original engine as was ,but when cleaning the gung of with turps
the rest of the paint mostly just feel off, so it wasnt no villiers paint in any way as a blowtourch and a blade it still fights a good fight lol.
so its now sripped down and base had the fire treatment to clean out the years of carbon and 2 stroke oil out and sweet the casting of oil so when sanded and painted it will stick for my years and not seconds lol
soflywheels removed stripped and back to bare cast iron and
base, cylinder and hopper primmered
the cylinder is in top coats and now in day 3 of drying off
cylinder bore has also had the same decoke and honned/deglazed out , as was scorred in a few places.
bottom end ive just finished the clean up strip down and rebuild and another flushing out ,just in case .
finished of tonight making new gaskets for everwere and hopper internally painted top coats finished tonight.
it feels like "day-zarr-vou " ive been here before this year doing this

Re: VILLIERS WX11 LZH 2 stroke restoration number 2 for 2012
Shame you've had to repaint that engine Kev but I'm sure you'll do the normal cracking job and get a great finish to it. Are you painting this one black also? where are the pics I'm missing them as you normally give a good pictorial accout of what your doing. (have you managed to get a camera sorted yet?)

I understand where your coming from Kev and getting your new engine must have put a bit of a dent in your engine money. I'm fine with blurry for now
