First project (Petter A11)
I picked up my first engine at the weekend, and have been working on it ever since. Once i had it running I started to strip it down for a mini over haul.
Condition before i started
Starting the clean down process to remove as much dirt and oil as possible
Next I took the head off to see check the carbon build up and check the piston and bore, all were in pretty good condition but had a lot of carbon build up
Next was to take the flywheel off which was a royal pain in the a***. I used a chain and car jack method which i read in another thread on here i believe, which actually failed for them, but worked for me with gentle persuasion from an iron bar
Here is where I'm currently at parts cleaned down ready for painting when it arrives

Thought I’d post a quick update, all parts have been scrubbed up and the painting process has begun, next is the block, you’ll see it left a square where the petter logo is, I’m taking it to a sign writer for him to look at then il paint it and he will draw the sign

Look at the difference happy with the results for the age, I used citric acid and hot water with soft wire wool and elbow grease

Re: First project (Petter A11)
That was quick!!
I've had my engines months and so far I've just tinkered about with the magnetos!
