Hello from India
hello All,
Iam Alex from India. Though I was interested in steam engines and beam engines , recently i have acquired a taste for stationery ICEs also. hope to use this forum to improve my knowledge on stationery engines . i have attached the pictures of a stationery engine in a abandoned tea factory( from the British era) in my state. unfortunately these are the only available pictures at present. Can anyone identify the engine ? i was told that it ran on coal gas. any further info on it might help preserving it.
thank & regards,
Alex William

Re: Hello from India
Hi Alex and welcome to the forum. The large engine could be one of a number of makes, a picture of the other side and cylinder head would help however there may be more knowledgeable people on these big engines here who will know. The vertical governor is a clue but both Ruston Hornsby and Tangye used similar types. There appears to be an even larger engine against the wall on the left of the lower picture. The type of crank guard suggests an engine of the 1930's to the 1950's

Hi Alex,
Welcome to the forum.
The engine in your picture looks like a Crossley Brothers engine, made in Openshaw, Manchester.
