Re: Lister a sheep shearing unit
Hi and welcome to the forum. That is a very nice shearing set up and will make a fine display. I have not seen a comb/cutter sharpener quite like that before, do you have the face plate that the blades are sharpened on?
The Petter appears to be one of the heavy duty A types, is there a name plate on it giving any details?

Re: Lister a sheep shearing unit
Hi and thankyou for reply there is a unit which attaches to sharpening disc the blades clamp onto it and you can move to different angles to sharpen not sure myself how it all bolts on yet but mounting bolts are still on trolley when they are all on will be bloody heavy not sure if to leave as it is in it’s working clothes or to paint what are people’s views on this the other good thing is I know the history of engine which was worked up to 70s then the sheep farmer contracted work out and engine stayed in barn till he died last month only paid £100 for it on condition his wife sees it restored and running how it was back in the 70s regards graham

That looks a nice piece of kit.
Please post a few pictures in New Projects/Restorations once you get going.
Good luck.
BTW. You seems to have posted the last picture three times?

The Lister is a rather nice ex bowser engine with flame guard and lid! Not often you still see the lid as the stem rots and it falls of, I'd say the Petter is a PA1 but not easy looking down.

Graham, Welcome to the Forum. You have a nice find there with the Lister A type. Try <https://www.stationaryenginebooks.co.uk/> for a book on the model; the same website can date the engine for you and tell you its original owner if you have the ser no and spec no. If the brass plate is missing, the ser no can be found stamped into the face of one of the flywheels. Hope this helps

No worries, just go back to the post, click edit, and delete the duplicated links.
BTW 'Old age' is not an excuse on this forum - I reckon the vast majority are due, if not receiving, their pensions
