Look what came home with me in the van today
A 1956 Stuart Turner R3 Generator Set.
It's unusual as it's a petrol/paraffin variant which is a bit rarer so I've been told.
Its a 2 stroke, 1HP @ 1500RPM with a Lucas SR1 Magneto. Its electric (via the generator) or rope start. and runs on Petrol/2 stroke mix or Paraffin/2 stroke mix.
The generator outputs 230VAC @500W and has an auxiliary output for charging the starter battery.
It came with a Stuart 'A' type Boiler Feed Pump still fitted with it's original English Electric 1/4HP electric motor pumping 60GPH @ 240RPM.
I will post more pictures and a video at a later date.

Tidy. With it being a paraffin burner do you mix the paraffin with 2 stroke oil same as petrol or does it have an oil pump?

According to the previous owner you mix the oil with the Paraffin.

Looks a lovely bit of kit, i wonder what the ratio of oil to paraffin is as paraffin is quite oily to start with.

Not any more, kerosene is quite dry now, ask any oil boiler man and he will tell you the same.

Oh right so its much less oilier i did not know that the only time i use paraffin is in my old blow lamps,i remember when i was a wee lad the tractor running on TVO and because it did not burn cleanly until it was working really hard i can still remember the old fella dipping the oil and him saying its making its own oil which is a similar problem with diesel engines with faulty injection systems.
