Can anyone identify this?
Has anyone ever heard of a Hart engine?
Flat twin, 94mm stroke, 89mm bore, 1170cc approx. I'm guessing 1910-1925 by the style of construction (blind sidevalve barrel, iron piston)
Crankcases and cams look very homemade, lots of hand-drilled holes and the cam profiles roughly filed to shape. No drive from outside of the flywheel, just a small sprocket inside the flywheel. No mounting pedestal.
Any info/ideas would be a great help! Thanks

Maybe Hart Parr of Madison, Wisconsin.
Looks a bit small - maybe a scratch built model ?

Ah, yes, this keeps popping up on ebay ....
Discussed on 'tother forum. Nothing to do with Hart Parr. Or Brian Hart for that matter.
Thought to be for an early car or motorcycle, but no one really knows.
Clearly an ex twin cylinder engine, so lots missing.

Re: Can anyone identify this?
Watched that one's travels on ebay with interest - all became a little clearer when someone twigged it was an incomplete flat twin rather than a horizontal single!
I'd agree that the top end looks like fairly standard teens to early 20's motorcycle fare (Model H Triumph, that sort of thing) 89mm is a pretty big bore for the era though. Bottom end looks somewhat later, particularly the 'HART' cover itself.
More pics of the innards would be interesting, though I don't hold out too much hope of a firm ID for what could well be a one-off project.
