My Lister Junior B tank cooled
Hi Guys this is what I've been up to the last few months.
A bit of background, I am from South Africa and vintage engines of any sort are very difficult to come by and spares even more so.
I recently acquired these two little "ladies" in very rough condition. Decided to start stripping and cleaning both at the same time. I needed a engine for a restoration competition, so with my Lister Junior model B tank cooled being more complete I would use that one.
After doing some research I discovered that these two Listers came from the Kalahari desert (hence the rough shape)
So here are some pics of the disassembly:
A 1950 I take it?
So I have stripped both motors entirely and sorted out the parts on a Table.
Let the cleaning commence..... a lot of it!

So after two weeks of cleaning. I started making up new parts and prepping everything to be painted.
Then by chance when I was looking for spares for my waterpump came across some lister parts and got two pulleys and a good condition piston arm including the berings.

I dont have any fancy paints available near where I live, so I use what I can get. Sure it will do the Job.

So the agenda in the new year was to build a new fuel Tank. Made out of stainless steel, used as much of the old fittings as possible.

Started to assemble everything. Amazing how much quicker it takes to put everything back together.

Found a pair of original Lister mufflers at my Uncles farm 80km. Cleaned the one and painted it with heat resistant paint.

Ive decided to go with a wheelbarrow type base. Got some cast wheels that I had lying around, found some good timber and let my mind fly away with ideas.

Re: My Lister Junior B tank cooled
Thank you guys!
Well I have taken my Junior to a Little meet where it did quite well I guess.
scored an 86/100.
I have found some more original parts in real good condition that ill be changing to gain those extra points.
Unfortunately being freshly restored the governor wasn't functioning 100% as it was catching so lost some stupid points there.
Ill be aiming for a 90-95% for the regional and then really pull out all the stops to get as close to 100% for the Nationals end of the year.

Re: My Lister Junior B tank cooled
Sorry with the delay, been very busy.
My little Lister qualified for the national EERC out of 41 entrants around South Africa where it competed against the top 12.
I am happy to report that I came 4th, am very happy as all the engines that qualified were of top quality restoration.
The winning engine was a Deutz 914 Diesel.
Here are a couple of pictures from the event.
