Oops I did it again! bought a Sachs Stamo 50 engine. Update 31-01 new pics
Dear forum members,
Last sunday I've visited a local flea market.
A lot of old furniture, fake art, and other funny stuff.
There was only one stationairy engine and I've bought it
It's a Sachs Stamo 50 engine (2 stroke petrol)
Build in 1962 in Schweinfurt Bavaria Germany
Almost complete including original decals.
Only the exhaust is missing and the support plate has some damages.
I think I will keep it in the "Patina state" to keep the original decals.
There is a spark and combustion; only the fuel line has to be replaced seems to be possible to get it running.
Keep you posted.
Best regards,
Steef Pronk

Stamo 50 Yes it's running
Dear forum members,
Today I've put on a new fuel line and ad some 2 stroke gasoline.
After one pull it was running!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3h6ZsQKxCI
Not bad for a 10 GBP "investment".
Needs an exhaust, some minor attention and of course a little tuning.
Seems to be worth it.
I have to figure out what it will drive in future. (pump, little crusher, generator)
Machines should be representing the early sixties (1962)
Will post a video soon.
Best regards,
Steef Pronk

Hi Steef,
Is that a speed reduction box I see on the back of the engine, If so you may find the output is a little slow for a generator or centrifugal pump, however better for reciprocating pump or crusher etc.
It's cosmetic condition is excellent, so I agree it would be a shame to loose that original paint and transfers. You get lucky sometimes!
Good on you Cheers Darryl

Hi Darryl,
Yes it is a reduction box 1:2. Assuming the output will be 1500 RPM at max.
With a reciprocating pump you mean a piston pump I guess.
Best regards,
Steef

minor optical changes
Dear forum members,
Found a non runner for spareparts.
Replaced the inner engine cover, the exhaust and the foundation plate.
Still in doubt to clean the exhaust and respray or leave it as patina.
What do you think?
Picture will be uploaded when I have computer acces. Still strugling to upload pictures from my (not so) smart phone.
Best regards,
Steef

Hi Steef - my vote is to leave paintwork as it is.

Dear Forum members,
Finally made it to make some pics.
Frontview with exhaust
Backview please note the tankconnection with 2 hexagon bolts (black)
Replaced the inner housing part with the tank connections.
Gave it a short run this afternoon. Very easy starter runs like new
@Paul,
Yes I agree. to leave it in the current patina state (including the exhaust)
