Oxy Acetylene cylinder exchange service required
Hello All,
I have a size H Acetylene and a size K Oxy cylinder - they are large - and very heavy - and this is where it gets interesting - I own them - they are not BOC owned cylinders (never were as not made by BOC) and as such I used to have to get them pressure tested before a local company would re-fill them (on exchange) - but they went out of business 2 years ago sadly and now I need to refill my cylinders - or exchange them again..
My question to you good people is does anybody know of anybody who still offers the service of exchanging an empty cylinder for a full one...somewhere in the South East would be good.
If I was wealthy I would use BOC but annual rental of £200 is prohibitive for the amount of welding/ brazing I do.
And Yes the fire brigade and my house insurance knows I have them at the bottom of my garden chained up and in a store
It seems to me as if BOC have the market - or you can go the hobby weld route but having your own cylinders (or exchanged ones) works out far cheaper - just the refill cost and a £15 pressure test once every couple of years (although i think this should be done annually but my cylinders take 3 years to be used...)
comments welcome - but a solution would be great...
Best
Hamish
