Stuart Turner R2Y Gen-set
This is my next restoration project -
I know very little about this set-up but I think that I may well have a problem in obtaining spare parts for the engine as it appears that all the add-ons eg carb, water pump ect have been removed at some stage in it's life. I think that this engine should have a fly-wheel mag which is also missing.
Does anyone know where I can obtain spare parts for this engine (I believe that the R3 version is the same as the R2 apart from having a bigger bore) and also a comprehensive manual?
I have obtained the 'Instr. Book 19' which deals with R2 and R3 Stuart engines and lighting plants but this does not go into the depth of detail that I need to restore this engine.
Any thoughts or comments that you guy's have would be greatly appriciated.

Have you tried Ebay for parts, or even a doner engine? that where I'd start also at places like enstone you might find spare parts.

Re: Stuart Turner R2Y Gen-set
Thanks for your comments.I have been trawling through Ebay and they have Stuart engines on there but they are the larger P5,P55, and some 10HP,mine is,I think, 1.5HP - I only think this because the engine plate does not show the HP - despite having a space for it! It must have been a friday engine!!

Re: Stuart Turner R2Y Gen-set
Try fairways marine in Peterborough for Stuart parts, when Stuart turner closed they bought all the remaing stock.
just found this
http://www.stuartturnermarine.co.uk/index.html
Appears to be the same site but I can find no mention of fairways.
The majority of r2 and r3 parts are the same apart from piston, rod and barrel I think.
chees,

Yes I will be restoring this set up.Someone has had a go at a paint job in the past but I intend striping it back to bare metal and building it up again - as to the colour I have only just started researching this but I have seen the colour 'light bronze green' mentioned.
Thanks for that information Liam - I will check it out.

Re: Stuart Turner R2Y Gen-set
thanks, this list is a little out of date to be honest, some have gone to new homes and others have arrived. over the next few days I will get it updated and maybe post a few pics in the shed sectionLewis MacRae wrote:liammc wrote:Try fairways marine in Peterborough for Stuart parts, when Stuart turner closed they bought all the remaing stock.
