Hi all,
Here is my Lancaster bomber dynamo. it produces 24V i will need to cool it some how before i can use it. i may use a hair dry with the element removed. the green piece of metal by the pulley i the shroud for the rear of the generator. anyway here is a picture:

Just to add, the spec plate says it will produce 1500W.

after some more research the dynamo could also be from an aircraft called a Halifax MK II and MK III (i think this is the name) as these also used merlin engines.
I also found a dynamo that looks remarkably similar. it is made by a company called H.A Brushes. not only does this other dynamo look similar but if you chip off some of the green paint you will find the original black paint. H.A Brushes where also supplied in black. I found this info on a website that sells original spares for vintage aircraft and they were selling this dynamo for £1,200!!!! I don't think mine is worth this much though.
