Corbett Root chopper
I have recently acquired a root chopper made by S. Corbett & sons from Wellington, Salop.
I'm trying to find out any information I can about it. It had been dressed up as a garden ornament and i'm trying to restore it to working condition but could do with some info and pictures.
There are some photos here

Thanks

Re: Corbett Root chopper
Considering it was a garden ornament it looks in very good order The cutter plates look as if they just need a quick sharpen up. The good news is that its been converted from hand power a long time ago with a nice big pulley to keep the speed down. Look up the Museum of English Rural Life (MERL). They have extensive catalogues of old implements and machinery, may just have one for Corbetts.

Re: Corbett Root chopper
The only information I can find is a few details about the company and a few old advertisements. Nothing with enough detail about my chopper, like original colour scheme. Also think that I'm missing some bars off the legs to stop them splaying out, easy enough to make some but not sure on there configuration.

It's all just a pile of bits now! But here are a couple of photos before I dismantled it.

Re: Corbett Root chopper
that looks really good,
it bugs me when you see vintage equipment used as ornaments. theres a pub near me with a nice old tractor in the garden for the kids to climb on. at least its still being enjoyed i guess
