fowler 1dm info wanted
hello all i have just got hold of a fowler 1dm and know nothing about them so any info would be great.
its engine number is 1000205. if anyone can tell a rough build date that would be great.
i have had it running but would like to know if it has any adjustment throttle wise on it as it seems to want to go fast all the time, if i hold the stop / run arm up towards the stop position it runs at a nice speed but as soon as i let go it just goes back to its working speed.
there is an adjuster nut on the side of the pump on the flywheel side and that seems to make it slightly quicker when pulled out.
thanks for any help.
martin.

Have you got any pics for us? We love to see these things.
I don't know about your specific engine, but I'm sure we have a few Fowler fans on here who'll be along soon enough, meanwhile I would love to see it.

Re: fowler 1dm info wanted
I should have a PDF manual somewhere that I can email to you if you PM me your email address. That might confirm regarding speed control.
Unfortunately I am not too up on the 1DM, but there was a great article in the SEM back in the 90's by Philip Thornton Evison over a couple of issues that would be worth tracking down.
I know for sure they are a HEAVY beast but they do run very sweetly when set up.
Cheers
Dave

it does seem a nice engine and to me it is lighter than some of the open crank engines ive had in the past!! lol... it was one of those engines i bought without looking at it as i had a call from my dad saying am i interested in it and i couldnt say no .... mind you i dont very often when it comes to new toys!! lol.
