Re: flywheels need sorting
Ryan,
Go down to the place at Portreath and buy an abrasive flap wheel. (think I used a 240 grit one).
Fix it in your drill, and that fly wheel will come up like a new penny.
I think they are approx £8, and they last for ages. (saves on the old elbows)
Thats what I used on my Flywheels, works a treat without having them skimmed.
regards
Mart.

Re: flywheels need sorting
Ryan ,Good old wire brush while running then some emery cloth.
then still while running brasso on a rag, then polish off.
stop engine polish with grate black leave to dry .
Polish off you have a great finish no oil or grease everywere and the dirt dont stick to it
this last for about 3 months then you just black it again.
All my engines I do like this

ryan wrote:ill go with the wire brush idea then
be very very careful with wire brushing flywheels, because you are subjecting the wire brush to high speed motion, they risk flying apart dead easy, they arent like cup brushes, they are not designed for that kind of work and the wires will fly everywhere, including your skin
best thing to do is progrssively finer grades on wet and dry, though just use it dry with some (moist lol) soap on, much safer so long as you keep your hands away from and trapping points
