When palleting engines like that who supplies the pallet and straps, just interested in case I ever have to do this?

Most places Pete, you have to supply your own pallet and staps, Mike the best one to ask he's pelleted a lot later

Thank's for that chris, dont know anybody around here that does pallets though. I guess that you have to add the price of pallet and straps to the bill then and make the buyer cough up!

Hi Pete.
In this case, the pallet was kindly supplied by the seller - as were the straps and ties. I contacted two firms that do this work - and it was the same for them.
The basic cost includes the use of their pallet lifter and use of the tail gate on their wagon, nothing else.

PALLETS easy to find locally to most peopleFoden wrote:Ah right Elliot, that clears that up then, thank's.
Pete.
builders yards and building sites
normally give you the pick of pallets from there skips for the timber recycling
just measure up you trolley wheelbase and approx weight
i think the srongest pallets are the blue all over with white writing on ,
they are a i shall not swear to try and break with a sledge hammer and about 4hrs to sepperate
the others you can knock into sepperate pieces of wood with a ballpain hammer in 3mins flat
hope this helps you
thnks kev

Glad your sorted Elliot, I'm sure you'll get hours no years of pleasure from it.
Pete the cost can vary depending on the size of the pallet, if you look in the pic it's a big pallet so that the trolley could be left attached to the engine. If it's just a small engine not on a trolley you'd get away with a smaller pallet so taking up less space on the truck.

Re: Lister A 1930 - My First SE - on route northwards
The wagon arrived at exactly 2pm - as predicted by Pallex last Friday - and after an hour of un-wrapping - it was better than Christmas, the beautiful engine started to appear. I will fill her up with oil & petrol and get it running, with Stu, later in the week.
Special thanks to Ian, Stu, Mike for the all contact information and smooth sale.

It does look good can't wait to get over and see it. I think there's another new, happy stationary engine owner.

Re: Lister A 1930 - My First SE - on route northwards
I've spend hours trying to download a video from my camera to you tube - but have now managed (and taken notes so this technilogical feat can be replicated).. trouble is it is now pitch black outside and -4 dgs c.
Tomorrow, hopefully, I'll put a short video of starting and running my 'new' Lister A.
