I have recently aquired a 1947 villiers mk25 engine, unfortunatly the nuts which hold the carb & exhaust manifold are missing, any ideas on the size please? sorry to ask but I don't have a clue! Embarassed

i also have a villiers 25 from 1946-7 mine is a petrol/parrafin with villiers vapourizer (july header photo on here)
if the studs for the exhurst and carb are original they are a 1/4" thread on the outer nut end
spanner size off memory they are around 9mm on mine
got my replacement nuts from a diy shop,
george at villiersparts.com sellls new studs and nuts sepperatly if you cant find them ,but you have to pay goodmoney of villiersparts
if you need any other help with villiers i have worked on many and have the original parts and instruction books for 25s
i have many carbs to suit for parts if you need any for the villiers cm36* model carbs

just a note for you
if youve had the flywheel off for cleaning magneto points and the likes
you will now know there is no keyway for timing flywheel back to crank ect also
ive rebuilt 7-8 of that idea and the 25 are the worst for slipping while refitting and tightening
so when you know the piston is 3/16" before T.D.C and the line on flywheel is tdc to mark on backing plate
make sure the crank and flywheels are conpletly spotless clean with thinners or carbcleaner spray,
put a couple of centerdot marks onto crankshaft and then tighten up like bruce almighty tap with a soft hammer and then do it all again on the tightening
OTHERWISE WHEN U START THE ENGINE OR EVEN SOMTIMES WHEN STOPPING IT LATER ON THE BLOODY FLWHEELS ROTTATE A COUPLE OF DEGRESS
AND YOU HAVE TO START TIMMING IT ALL OVER AGAIN
ive got a few over the years becouse the owners removed the flywheel and found no crank timing mark some people say to use the keyway on the pulley end but THAT IS A MIFTH i nearly broke my wrist becouse an supposive villiers man told me that was the way they were done in the factory
no such thing LOL

The nuts on the exhaust & inlet manifold are special nuts 1/4" B S F but they are a smaller spanner size and deeper as there is not room for an ordinary 1/4" nut on the flanges, at least they are on mine that i have just rebuilt.

you have the nuts like on one of mine they are a black coloured steel nut /hardened about a 8-9mm spanner size ????
if this is the case i can get them but there not cheap
i need some more of them too
the more the merryer on the price,
if we buy them together they will be slightly cheaper
let me know if interested or if you find some in the mean time.
get me 6-8 nuts will pay you for them no worries
im also looking for 2x studs 68mm for villiers vapourizer same threads as standard villiers studs for exh/intake

Hi Kev, i don't need any nuts, but i will have a look and see if i have anything lying around are the 68mm ones setscrews or studs threaded at both ends. My mk 25 was in fairly good condition so i did'nt need to replace any bolts.

studs and nut or setscrews as long as they fit the tread in the inlet /exhusts on the engine block external tread or screw top or setscrew not to bothered about thread externauly
-or even if they are longer that i can cut down with threads on at around the 68mm mark

if he has them at 80mm they would work better and i can shorten to suit as i forget to add the gasket gaps on
