Re: work comenced today on EV1
its is a heavy lump indeed ... am a stocky lad anyway so have the beef to move it about lol
with the flywheels off and the sump off i can lift the block with head on by myself but thats about it .... i will be investing in a block and tackle once i have finished the trolley . Build it up bit by bit and should be fine .... but the trolley is a non steerable one

Re: work comenced today on EV1
after leaving the glue to dry and alot of sanding , have decided to oil the trolley up using danish oil .
After 4 coats ....
And a close up of the grain , Think the effect is what i wanted .... just debating if i should beeswax it now or not ?
Started to sort out the axles as well .. bought some 30mm round bar and some wheels from my stock pile . The holes in the wheel are 7/8 so will get the ends turned down to 22 mm to allow for clearance . If you can imagine the last 60mm of the bar tuned down to take the wheels and steps up to 30mm .
Started to make up some gaskets .... just done the sump one for now . once the trolley is done i will start to build up the engine from sump upwards doing the rest as i go .

Wow that looks a nice bit of wood now you've put the oil on, made a big difference.Think I need to try that as mine always ends up to dark.
Matt a non steerable trolley will be ok my Lister G was on one and I still managed to move it ok till the axles snapped, would of been ok if the last builder had used solid bar not tube.

Re: work comenced today on EV1
been a busy bee today and made the most of the suntrap of the patio .... oven for drying paint lol
here is my progress so far , i have shimmed out the wheels now and painted wheels and placed the sump on -
As you can see i have placed some gland packing for the crankshaft seals ... 1/4" glad packing did the job fine , just hope it doesnt leak but have tightened it down quite tight .
Next was the main block to drop on with the gaskets ....
As you can see the sump bolts i have cleaned all the paint off ... not too sure if should leave them like it or to paint them . The idea was no paint to chip off when need to tilt the block in future .
regards , matt

but will be a proper job once its all done

Re: work comenced today on EV1
hi there MATT
will you selling the 2x wheels on the barrow type trolley?????????
as i have a pair of these and in need of a couple more to match
want to make to axles and fit this style wheels to lister A's original trolley using same bolt holes so as to not drill or mess it up
and then when needed just slip original axles and wheels back under her
as on the field shes to heavy on the land on a dry weekend and sinks in so the axles just missing the ground
god help me if its been wet they are only 3 1/2" wheels and not very wide at all
and all worped the same amount , standing for years on end in the same spot probably done it
I NEED HER ON LARGER ONES FOR LOADING AND EASE OF MOVING ON THE FIELD/GROUND CLEARENCE AND TURNING IS A PROBLEM TOO
,around a 8ft turning circal

Re: work comenced today on EV1
Matt I thought that when I built my second shed, now it's also full so rented a lock up garage not far from home and that's filling up fast
Keep away from that old I shall not swear Mike or he'll help you fill your second shed with engines, pumps and wheels
