I have used Soda Crystals and the process worked quite well, I derusted an old starting handle a couple of years ago and it cleared most of the rust. Make sure that you have the wires the right way round though or the piece will slowly errode away!

Pete.

Electrolysis is the best way I found to clean fuel tanks inside and outside Borax or Soda Crystals work fine and cast iron wheels come out like new

I have used citric acid and electrolysis . Electrolysis is far better. Soda crystals in a plastic container with a 12 volt charger. A good wash and dry then a quick coat of primer.
