This one is a favourite of mine. It is a Cooper badged Stover YC 6hp throttle-governed. There are only 4 of these known to exist and mine was rebuilt from a complete wreck:

Some of the work done and parts made are: carby fabricated from scratch using an original as a pattern; Engine bored and sleeved; both crankcase doors are new castings as is the muffler; all rockers rebushed; fuel pump rebuilt and new handle cast; webster bracket repaired (was in three peices); refurbished Webster; and lots of other little jobs. It is now a great running engine.

What an excellent restoration, well done, I wouldn't know where to start on such a hugh restoration job as that. Can I just add that most of the pics I've seen from oz is that the engines are all large, bigger then the engines from the states even. Can you tell me what they were used for? I can guess that some would be for pumping water and if I'm correct in thinking that, what was the size of the pumps and there outputs and how deep would they have to pump up from?

Stu.

Apart from the govenor, carby & head the rest of the engine is the same as the hit and miss versions. The biggest job was fabricating the carby. A very clever mate of mine made it from scratch using an original as a pattern.
The three known surviving throttle governed YCs are in Australia as well as the only surviving YB throttler.

Lovely restoration.

Must have been hard to find those wanted parts being only 1 of 4.

Martin.
