Re: Petter restore project
Nice one. A bit grubby but it seems to be mostly there.
I took the liberty of moving your thread to a more appropriate section

Re: Petter restore project
Nice find, as said above looks pretty much all there.
That gib key looks like it's in backwards?

Re: Petter restore project
I couldn't decide whether it was in backwards or the wrong key. Either way, it's going to be tricky to shift if it's stubborn.
In a similar situation I've carefully drilled a small hole and put in a machine screw just to get some purchase on it. Of course, this damages the gib but in my case it was clear that the item had been bodged anyway - it looked like it had been filed down by hand to make it fit (it wasn't even square!)
All part of the fun.

The Gib key shouldn't be square, it should have a small taper from the head to the tail as it is a wedge. Its way to long and I would suggest previous owner(s) filed the head off to get a pulley on the shaft.

Re: Petter restore project
In the meantime, i have started to strip her down, so far nothing (other than the Gib Key) looks too bad, she turns over OK and a i can hear the Magneto clacking away. I am looking forward to getting the carb off and stripping and cleaning that, and i guess the same for the Mag'.
Trying to take my time on this, it will soon be too cold to start painting, so plenty of time for cleaning etc.
