At last I have one
I have been looking for this engine model for a L O N G, time, collected this today, saw and heard it run, was a round trip of approx 200 miles but was worth every mile, will now give it a bit of clean up then make up my mind as to leave as is or give it a bit of paint
Blue Cat, only number I can find on this SC is as follows, SC 6401 just when you have time please with a bit of history.

Nice! I always think they have the look of a 20's motorbike engine about them.

Re: At last I have one
Not surprising as they were developed from the Norman E type motorcycle engine of the late 1920's.mattblack wrote:Nice! I always think they have the look of a 20's motorbike engine about them.

Always worth travelling for a good one Don, and glad you've found one.
Norman type SC serial number SC6401 was a single sale of one engine to a Gordon McAndrew on 7th July 1947. Sales to a single individual were uncommon, and it looks like Gordon took good care of it. There is no mention of Gordon's location in the dispatch book. The engine was originally fitted with a Wico Series A magneto, so the one on your engine may well be the original.
The light green paint remaining on your engine could also be original as I have seen other Norman SC engines with this colour.

Re: At last I have one
Once again thank you Blue Cat for the information. Think might just give it a clean and leave it as it is with these details to be entered onto a display board.
