Hi Kai, and a warm welcome to the forum.
Are you planning on a full restoration of the gen set?

In the UK twin magnetos are hard to find and expensive because the motorbike lads snap them up.
Good luck with your search.

Just a thought as I know this is an issue as you say, would it be possible to gear 2 single cylinder mags together to achieve the same result? OK it wouldn't be 'original' but if it meant the difference between a running engine and a lump of scrap...

Or, hook up a battery, coil, a switch and a distiributor from a car and use the two 180 degree outleads from the cap ?

Have a look at this thread - may spark ( Embarassed  Wink ) a bright idea.

https://ukengineforum.forumotion.com/t6890-coil-ignition-without-a-battery

I've thought about it myself but never experimented. I suppose if you can get a spark you could connect to both plugs and 'waste' one spark on the exhaust stroke. Or am I loosing it altogether? Rolling Eyes

I believe modern engines with coil packs use the 'wasted spark' system?

Citroen flat twin engines (2CV ect) do, they have a points box on the front of the crank and a double ended coil.
