Need more tools !
I have hit a snag with my new project, (Villiers MK 25 four stroke) - already - I’m now looking for recommendations for some new sockets as I can’t get the pull start ring/cooling fan or flywheel off - nothing I currently have will fit in the counter bores or flywheel nut recess !
…. ideas please - thanks Andy

Re: Need more tools !
Might have to turn down a socket to fit that recess?

Re: Need more tools !
Villiers used mainly Whitworth sizes on the earlier engines, not sure about the later ones like the C25.
A box spanner might be the answer to those recessed pulley bolts.

.... it's time to dig out my grandfathers tool box, sitting here I have just realized there may well be some of those in there and I am sure they will be imperial sizes - lets hope

Silverline do 'hobby' quality tools for reasonable prices.

Not done one of these for a long time, but it's possible that once the three studs holding the starter pulley are removed, then the flywheel nut will be fully exposed.

No new tools needed, Pop comes through !
….. dug out my grandfathers tool box (he was a wing rigger at Short Brothers Rochester during the war till it was bombed, he than had to move to Yorkshire, then Belfast and then went over to France attached to a Typhoon squadron, and later down to Greece) - in the box was a well used Gedore No. 25 box spanner that did the job perfectly
…. problem solved

And a lovely family heirloom! I had my grandad's cabinetmaker's chest - sadly very few tools left.
