Lister d petrol paraffin rad cooled
Evening all I've been putting this lister back together over the last couple of days since I've finished the other lister to get it going just ned to sort the radiator out as it leaks terrible, on this one I'm working on now had been converted to run paraffin aswell I'm abit puzzled on the carbs main body as I've not seen one like that before I'll post a few pics up of how its coming along.

Couple more pics of today's progress vaporiser manifold on carbs back on and throttle linkage just got to make up a ht leed and check the oil and then give it a try to see if it will cough into life it hasn't run in probably 30 years just got to find the rest of the bits for the radiator and fuel tank

Maybe that carb body was made to accept a gas supply.

I have a Carburetor with not the same fitting but a barbed fitting for possible gas in the same place.

Its quite possible just having fun with the magneto I stripped it down cleaned inside and the rotor had a nice spark when testing on the bench put it on the engine and zero spark all shims were cleaned and the mounting bracket cleaned back to bare metal as it had been painted hopefully tomorrow it should be running

What is the coil like? If you have a multi meter measure the resistance from the HT lead to the magneto body, should read about 3-5kohms.

The coil wasn't to bad I've just had it back apart sanded everywhere put it back together and have got a decent spark will try it back on the engine tomorrow before work

In what way? Coils may look great on the outside, but the inside is a green mass of copper wire. If it's not had a rewind in the past there is a more than likely chance it will need one, the resistance check will at least give you an idea of how good it may be. This is coming from someone who's tried to nurse subpar magnetos to run on engines, it just turns into disappointment.

Just checked it with the multimeter and it was reading 2500 resistance

Should be ok, but 2.5kohms is on the low side really. Something is better than nothing.

Good news just had it running only problem I've got now is it's over fuelling and flooding itself, this ones been abit more challenging than the other d's I've worked on

Make sure the float doesn't leak, also that the float locates on the needle correctly and make sure the screw cap on the float bowl has located the needle correctly.

Sounds like it's ticking over too slow, put a little more tension on the throttle spring to increase the rpm!

I wouldnt adjust the throttle spring, he found the answer when he held the air valve down, screw the threaded body in to make it suck harder for air its running to weak.
