I was taught that continuous rotation was the wrong thing to do, and that back and forth, lift, move round a bit and repeat - several times. Then wipe off, inspect and repeat again as necessary.
Spinning with a drill was known as "a hanging offence"!!

I totally agree with Wristpin having been a mechanic for 60 years and using a drill was no no back and forth is the only way to seat a valve properly
