New member from Rutland
Hello all, since I dug my grandfathers old lister ld1 generator out of the nettles a few weeks ago I've become quite taken with lister engines.
I got this engine going after not too much work, if it can be fixed with spanners and swearing at it I'm not too bad, but anything with wires I leave alone.
The generator part is free, but the top box only has two battery leads coming out of it, for the push start, but no ac sockets or wires, just a hole.
After removing the cover and evicting the spiders I looked at all the wires for a bit and put the lid back on.
I'd really like to get it working myself but I need 'the ladybird book of Diy generators.'
Anyway, I digress. What I meant to say is 'Hello, I'm a new member called Mark and I live in Rutland.'

Hi Mark and a very warm to the forum.
I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice and guidance with the electrical bits. My knowledge is limited to that covered by 'A' level physics in the Sixties. No doubt neil(LE) and others will be able to help.
Please start a new thread in New Projects/Restorations. Good luck.

Hi and welcome. I'm not certain I would really be that much help, my knowledge is limited to what I've learnt working on some of my own units. However if you post some more information and pictures, when you are able to, in the New Projects/Restoration sections as suggested by Woodsman, I'm sure you will get lots of assistance as you progress the restoration. Enjoy the journey.

Re: New member from Rutland
Hello again all, thanks for the kind welcome! I took some photos today and will put them up when I work out how on my phone. I can't say what I do will glory in the title of a 'restoration,' simply working as it should is my ambition at the moment. Mainly because I need the electricity! But also if I did such a splendid job as some of you had done it would look out of place amongst the rest of the farm machinery.
I'll put my pictures up anyway and look forward to any advice on the generator bit. Excuse the spiders and grass on it... But it does run, honest!
