New kid on the block !.
Hi there glad to join up, I have a pretty but rusty J.A.P 2a engine no 2AC 4480, It was a bit of a ebay impulse buy and I suppose it's the sort of engine size and weight where a trailer is unnecessary, hoping that with a bit of help I can get it going !.

Hello and welcome!
There's a lot to be said for smaller engines, it means you can fit more of them in any given space...

The letter "C" in your engine number would suggest a date of 1948.

Re: New kid on the block !.
Thanks for the welcome from you all, I have got to say that tinkering with old engines is a great stress buster, best £30 I have spent in a long time !.
Looking at the carburettor which is an original J.A.P and to info that has been posted on the matter I think your right about it being a 1948, J.A.P dropped that carb as the engine would die when rocking about at excessive angles while used in a rotavators as an example.
The engine is in a stripdown mode and I will post some pic's, the exhaust valve was jammed open but has been encouraged back into operation with some WD40 and a little tlc so we now have some good compression, next job to get flywheel off.
