viliers MK 15
Got a Villers MK 15 today thanks donp for giving me the heads up on it when it was on ebay was supposed to collect it from Blaydon at 2.30 today & i phoned her up to see if i could collect it earlier and she said she had to go to Sunderland to collect some timber 8 minute drive from where i live what a result not having to drive on the horrible A1 where there is roadworks and Metro Centre traffic . Hear is some pictures of my engine last 2 serial numbers is 52 was this made in 1952 ? very pleased with this engine

Nice kick start. Mk15 date is approximately late 1940s to mid 1960s. The serial numbers do not usually indicate the date on Villiers engines (as far as I know).

Re: viliers MK 15
Hi blue cat cant remember were but i read that the last 2 serial numbers date the engine ( could be wrong ) is there any other way it could be dated ? . It was rallied up till 2 years ago and was a show winner and a good runner the previous owner told me. It has got a good spark and compression . The only issue is it has the wrong spark plug fitted Champion J8C it should have a Lodge C14 . Put some oil down the plug hole to lubricate the cylinder & piston going to lubricate the rocker shaft and pushrods , valve springs and give it an oil change and carb clean as it has been standing 2 years kind regards Bob

I don't know of any way to accurately date Villiers engines. Some have an impressed mark (usually AJH) and the date in the tinwork, but other than that its an estimate only for most of them.

Re: viliers MK 15
Nice one, but I would say that...
Like mine it has the oil bath air filter and kick start. The exhaust looks like a more modern one that's been adapted, I think it would have had the 'pepperpot' type. I believe that (some?) Villiers engines have the date stamped on the flywheel, my MK15 has '3 58' which I took to be March 1958. Doesn't work if the flywheel has been swapped at some point though...
I have a manual covering the MK15 in PDF form, PM me your email if you would like a copy.
