New member from Rochdale.
Greetings from Rochdale, my name is Simon. I was made aware of the forum after I posted on 'my old machine' site, and somebody helpfully pointed me in your direction. I have always been interested in scooters and bikes owning and tinkering with vespa's, I currently own a Honda Hornet 600. I recently purchased a Bsa 420 power unit and that has brought me here. I went to many steam fairs with my father as a youngster and always saw the stationary engine displays, he is still into his steam and currently building a 'Wallis and Steevens' Simplicity roller.
I am of an age where i have never really worked with imperial spanners and am finding it challenging.
I am sure I will be posting again when I have had a look at the engine I've pucrchased, and what I have and have not got...
Anyway just wanted to say thanks for letting me join, Simon.

Re: New member from Rochdale.
Hi Simon, welcome aboard.
First thing to do is invest in a Zeus book (the bible), a set of pitch gauges and a vernier (sometimes on offer at Lidl, Aldi etc.) to unravel the mysteries of imperial threads

Hi Simon and a warm welcome to the forum.
Stuart got the before me with sound advice. Plenty of thread info on 'tinterweb - ditto cheap digital calipers and thread gauges. Hobby quality imperial sockets and spanners are fine - I bought Silverline but you can also drop on vintage stuff on fleabay.
Good luck with your new project - there is a another BSA project that you may want to follow.
