Hello from Fife Empty Hello from Fife

Post by Norman Raeburn Mon Sep 30 2019, 14:50

Hi Folks, My name is Norman as you can see from my user name, I live in Fife, Scotland.
I have always wanted a stationary engine but there has been nothing localish to me. However I found something on Gumtree and went for a look (much to my son's disgust as they were going in his van) and came back with three Lister D's in various states of disrepair. I will be asking loads of questions as I have little idea about them although they look simple enough.
The first is the year, I have looked online at the usual lists but can't make much sense of them. Anyway the serial numbers are as follows, 139987 spec 18DH which I think is 1937, the second is 1/71286 spec 28DH which I think is 1941, the third I can't make any sense off, it's 1272 DH2 there is nothing on the spec plate. Any help here would be appreciated.
I also have a 1963 Singer Vogue which I am very slowly restoring, it needs lots of welding. I am also interested in vintage radio and have a few sets in my collection.
I think that's enough about me and my woes for the moment. Many thanks to the admim for letting me join. Norman

Norman,
For dating your D types, email the info on each spec plate to Doreen Edgington on <Enginbooks@aol.com> She holds the factory "day-books" and can tell you to whom each of the engines was originally supplied.

Hello and welcome!

Good luck with the Vogue, among other old cars I had MK1, 2 & 3 Humber Sceptres.

Hi Norman, welcome aboard.

1/71286 spec 28DH was built Jan - Jun 1951, as above, Doreen should give you the exact dates.
