Briggs and Stratton Question?

I am sure there is a B&S specialist somewhere....CAN I REVERSE THE DIRECTION OF ROTATION ON THIS ENGINE?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chris.

Can't see why not, new cam, starter dog and reset the timing then it should run the other way, or just cross the belt....

thanks Villiers, The reason why I wanted to know is that I have been trying to make a flail mower attachment run as per the makers installation which drives an A belt through 90*...Dodgy... I can't get it to work properly after using their configuration of jockey and tension pulleys. Then trying my own ideas. I have never tried using a cross over V belt as you suggest but your ides sounds very appealing. But I need to keep pulley centers close, about 9" so there is not enough room to cross the belt. 9" centers will work on a crossed belt as long as the pulleys aren't 8" diameter...

Proper belts are available for crossing/ multi direction changing as well....

These also work well with a 90* angle drive, in fact that's sort of what they are for. Even a 90* angle drive can be crossed if you angle the pulleys right.

Well Chris as said above I agree use a cross over belt because if change the direction of the engine you have to alter oil dipper or slinger and con rod oil drilling and then oil dipper will catch the camshaft

Hi Tony.... Yes, I have seen that now thanks. I shall need about 10 or 12 HP. I think I can use one with the standard Counter Clockwise rotation. So am looking around for one. An electric 12v clutch as well would be good? Chris.

I have solved my own problem now.. Bought a bigger Stiga mower to drive the flail.
