Hi All

Millers Flywheel Magneto 2c9ddd18-2fda-4fb5-ba2e-f26c4921ae5e_zpsd0315533

I am part way through restoring a Stuart Turner R2 and have just managed to get the inner flywheel off, only to find that a previous owner has removed the coil, condenser and replaced the original points with an inferior set ( and made a mounting plate for them). Could anyone kindly let me know what type of coil, condenser and points I need, and if possible where I can get them from? Thank you.
All the best,

Kev.

Hi kev
I will post a pic later showing how it should look. I would say yours has been set up to run off an external mag using those points to fire it, I could t have been run as normal as that metal plate covers most of the mounting points.

Hi All,
The inner magnetic flywheel of this unit had been damaged whilst a previous owner had been trying to remove it - it looks like a puller had been used by putting the 'legs' on the outer rim of the flywheel and pulling - this had the effect of 'dishing' the flywheel and cracking the flywheel 'legs' - there must be a lesson in there somewhere! I have been searching for a replacement for some time now without success - it appears that these flywheels are as rare as hens teeth, so have now decided to investigate the feasibility of having the flywheel repaired - I think that the 'dishing' will have to be pushed out, trued up and then welded.
I attach,I hope!,some photos showing the damage for your interest.

Hi All,
Here is another photo showing the 'dishing' - the amount varies from about 1/16-3/32".
