Lister D - Compression Loss
I have a 1934 Lister D type. The old head gasket needed to be replaced, so I have placed a brand new copper one on. I did a test run and I can hear air hissing out of the holes where the push rods are. The head bolts are screwed tight and it can hold a full tank of water. Could anyone help me with this problem?
Thanks
Ally

Re: Lister D - Compression Loss
that's allrite, that's just air out of the crankcase, those slots act as a breather, and I expect your leaking a bit of compression past the piston too, but wuldnt worry about it!

That's very helpful, thanks. I think I'll check to see if the piston rings are free too.
