GODWIN water pump
i had a visit on wednesday from a man i used to work for
he asked me if i wanted a water pump out of the old carriage stable block from his 16th centry manor
was only exspecting a little simplex with a small engine i asked him about years ago,but when he arrived today with it on a strong 4 wheeled plastic trolley too :)bonus as that was with it if i wanted it
anyway it was the goodwin a1ep waterpump that was there when the council used the walled garden as a local depot until the 60s
one of the council me claimed it was olumbed to the irigation system for the green houses and wall climbing fruit trees ect
but my main question is what erea were these produced from to and any way of dating them
all i can say is it is whitworth theads as a stud was rooted to rust powder with the brass nut still on ,until i need to acess the poppet valves as stuck down ,it worked ,but not tested for long as water was spraying from side plate with just the one stud holding it ,but know has new stud made and a new gasket ready for retesting tomorrow some point, easy to test as electric motor still works ,just needed a new power lead making
ooh yeah its on a base with a small 2.2amp motor with brass greasers and a brass pulley belt started to peel its self but still works for the meaan time
so basicly
1 anyone have an idea what ereas are there from
2 does the seriel number tell what they were going to like A1 model/type spec "E" electric "P" for powered or petrol ???????
just a guess
3 any other info wouldnt go a miss either please lads and galls
4 what do they be valued at or what have they sold for in the past
please help
kev

Re: GODWIN water pump
The A1EP is an electric driven pump and the P means it is a pressure pump rather than a volume pump, you could find it has ball valves in rather than flappy rubbers.
This is my A2...

This is my A2...
not ball but spring loaded solid broze/brass valves ,so very close indead mate
and it just keeps pumping when i tryed to slow the flow ,and started to turn more like pressure washer
that will also explain why the GPH gallons per hr and FooT LIFT boxes on id plate are blank.
do you have a guess of manufacturing of these or company closed ect
heres a pic not very good as camera must stop storing to memory as battery get low ,and the video is all out of sync and very short indead

Re: GODWIN water pump
Built by Godwin, they are still going but as helpful as a chocolate fire-guard. Started building them in the 30's I think and kept on until the 60's??? Something along those lines.
IF, and it's a big IF you write to Godwin with an SAE you might get a manual back.
