Sounds well Kev nice work but you've tools holding your engine together is this permanent :Lil: :Lil: :Lil: :Lil:
Can't help about colours as the only time I worked on plant equipment everything was panted the same colour turquoise green colour that was on everything from a water pump up to the excavators and the company still runs today in them colours.

no the original silancer is cracked across the base shame as its a mushroom/dome top casting like amanco style,
this one is off my jap 5 and not big enough for the bolts to go in manifold ,so clamped it in place

There's a guy in my eBay catchment area who's selling 2 original manuals for this engine.
Here...

Don't even know if you've still got it, but thought you might like to know.

Seems like yesterday Stu. (Maybe that's because he posted a pic of it in another thread the other day).
TBH I would kind of like to know how this one went. Did he ever get it running? I can't remember.
Anyway, I saw the book, & immediately thought of Kev & his big JAP.
I might be digging out one of my own old threads soon. It's not as old as this one though, it's still on page one of the list (just about).

Good going Kev glad to hear her running again. She will look good when she is all restored. And what colour i thought satin black with all the alloy showing would look good!!

no mate if i paint her she will be going back to massey harris orange and some bits black but will be staying as is for the time being maybe bottom cowling and the rustyest bits will be done for preservation, but when i say this i usually end up doing the lot but will need to get the waterslide transfers copied first as they are there but dont come up on the pics
heres the good painted bit for a colour reference

I have a JAP Model L 55 and could do with infomation on it
Hi there. I saw this site hen looking up info on my JAP L 55. Mine is on a wheelbarrow style frame with a hydrovane compressor on it. The wheelbarrow frame does look like it was factory made. Im unsure of the year of the set up but i do know it was baught new by its previous owner who has now passed on. As far as i know it was baught as it is but im not sure if they came set up like this one is. I go to alot of rallies here in Ireland and have other engines and cars but I have never seen a twin cylinder JAP before and ive never seen this compressor either. After alot of searching I couldnt find any infomation on the exact compressor i have so any help here would be greatfully appreciated.

Re: my new project a twin cylinder jap model 55 petrol parrafin engine
hi there
if you send me the serial number that is stamped to the block at the compressor end of engine behind the alloy fueltank bracket on the top face of the block, think theres a pic on this post of were to look, as for the compressor sorry i cant help you ,other than to look for a stamp mark or id plate with a manufacture name stamped on, i would say the frame would of been made by the company that fitted the compressor to the engine
nice to here about another twin cylinder jap , hope yours is a runner to mate ,that would make the count up to 3 runners and 2 breakers that i found out about in the last 4 yrs ,so there few and far between
any other questions just ask i dont bite
