Thanks for posting the videos very interesting, hope you sort out the problems with it as it will make a cracking display once it's finished. I have a Jap 2a partly stripped at present waiting for me to put some new rings in as when I bought it, it was very low on compression so hopefully new rings and the valves ground in should sort it, just need the time to do it.
Please keep us informed of any up dates of what you find wrong(if anything)

Thanks for your replies. I was advised today that the way I removed the flywheel could have strained the threads on the nut and shaft. After removing the rope pulley I placed the nut back on the shaft a couple of turns and whilst pulling on the flywheel hit the nut with a hide mallet. Any views on this would be welcome.
