im trying to sell a few of my bigger engine but dont seem to be getting any response
when i was at dorset steam fair last week plenty of people stopped to ask how much the engines were

ENGINE PRICES Empty i would say the best time to buy one is in the winter

Post by Admin Mon Sep 07 2009, 18:03

i just sold my D for £201 thats alot, if i were to buy on in winter could get it for under £100 easly, depends what you want really, have you an engine in mind, another way of doing it is if you have a really kind friend like lord jonesey you could always ask him for a mates rate on one of his, we do mates rates down here

ENGINE PRICES Empty Re: ENGINE PRICES

Post by Guest Mon Sep 07 2009, 21:56

Mike I bought a Lister J a few months back on fleabay. The guy I bought it from had paid £100 more for it then I paid for it and there were no other bidders on the engine. Some people that buy engines are just looking for a small engine that fits in the boot of there car and gives them a free ticket into rallies. Most enthusiasts are to busy rallying in the summer to buy and wait till the end or begining of the seasons to buy anything new. There is probably someone that would love it but live to far away Exclamation Also large engines are difficult to store so most go for the Lister D size as they don't take up as much room even with the trolley. As for prices, the price of the M type is spot on if not a bit on the cheap side, yes I'd take it but no cash and the distance being big draw backs. lol! lol! lol! . I know theres a Lister the same as mine advertised in SE magazine (been in for 2 months and not sold yet) and he's wanting £300 more then I paid for mine Rolling Eyes , I think he's dreaming but out their, there is a buyer and it will sell for his asking price. So you'll just have to wait or give it away, I'd go for the first option if I was you and wait my time. Lord Jones will always loan you a sheep or a few hens and a bag of grain to see you over the cold winter months ahead.

Stu.

what sort of big engines are we talking about mike?

big engines in my terms are Lister CS's and ruston VSH's lol

the place to get stupid money for stuff in Cheffins auction, they get lots of irish buyers in and they are determined to take an engine home, so the costs skyrocket

ENGINE PRICES Empty Debate on mother-in-laws

Post by BRASSO Tue Sep 08 2009, 19:33

We really should have a debate on mothers in laws, cause I reckon I have got the worst one!!!!!!!!
She is b***dy nuts.!!!!
If she was my wife, she would be under the patio by now.
Her latest idea is how to destroy a perfectly good house in 1 month, moral of the story is people who fit kitchens, dont fit Wood burners and generally are s**t plasterers. You would not believe me if I told you what they have done.
Best bit is, I sell double glazing, and my mother -in -law went to one of my competitors for hers, then had the cheek to phone me up whilst he was there to ask me if the price was any good.......................??
Now you get some idea of where I am coming from, just hope the wife has more of her fathers Genes. ha ha ha ha.
