stuart type N

I'm currently awaiting delivery of a Stuart turner type N, I am trying to gather some information of this type

Tried to get it going today, it will start and then stop, I think there is a little dirt in the tank so going to give it a clean and try it again

Thanks for the comment, I might change the water tank as I got a dynamo to fit, plus its going to be painted stuart green

Steve is that the propper exhaust it looks great, just like a mini Petter exhaust.
Should sound nice

Yea they normaly have a expansions chamber similar to a P4 one, but this one looks like it belongs all bolt hole etc are right.
Just waiting to see what it sounds like.

Going to repaint and rejig the cooling tank on the Stuart N.

Her she is at the start.


I have since got it apart and started to strip the old paint, and it seems curiosity killed he cat!

Will see if I decide to fill it in again before painting or not.

Tiny or what If your going to fill it use that liqiud metal stuff cant rember what its called but I have a box of the stuff , pm me Steve with your address Steve and I will send you a tube its great

I have just come in from the workshop, J B Weld its called it's like putty . You cut a piece off the size you want and keep rolling it in your hands like plastercen it gets warm and sticky , then fill the gap or what ever you want to do with it. Give it about 24 hours to go right off and then you can grind it ,drill it.

Right got the base stipped and steam cleaned and repainted, all the black should dry satin.

Twas undercoated twice yesterday, well the base, flywheel and tank was, didnt think I would need to photo it in boring grey.

No I picked up the 1st satin black metal paint I seen in B&Q, turned out to be that non-drip tar like stuff, like painting with double cream

From memory it sticks like the preverbal to a blanket, seem to remember the new apprentice have a load spread in his pubes and then tied up in the rafters I got locked in the empty dirty oil container, was a massive thing.

Getting there

Need to get some head gasket material, can anyone recommend any? after the non-asbestos fibre stuff.

did a little more tonight, just to keep me busy

I need to find a better way to secure the chain guard.

Just waiting on a few ingnition parts, and some gasket, then the fun job of the cooling tank and fuel, got the out-laws down on my 6 off, so paint should be nice and hard! after that its the dynamo.

For a N...No they are a bespoke carb for the N so other stuart carb parts are not interchangeable , I know where to get one for other models.

Crisis averted! I had to remove the head studs as the previously fitted nuts were the wrong pitch and killed the studs, so removed 2 ok and the other 2 cracked off, one quite deep the other just bellow the surface, both drilled out and re-tapped with ease! they were both beyond the surface so wasnt to hard to drill out the stud 1st with a small drill bit then with a larger, I then run a tap down through and it is taking hold of some clean thread .

Ordered some new head studs and nuts, luckily there the same as some exhaust studs, Is it worth fitting them with some loctite?
