Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Many years ago I wrote to your father about my Lion engine but never had a reply. Attached are photos of the engine, and I know it has a later type magneto but would like to know when it was built and what is the correct magneto. It is a 6hp engine @ 450rpm serial no. 3154.
Thanks
Philip

Thanks for reply, the number on the top of the Lion's hopper is CM 1203. Is this also a serial or a date number, I had thought it was just a casting no.

h phill , its a number that dates when it was cast. so they do sort of tie in with the brass plate no. dad has worked out a order in which he can help date them roughly. as there is nothing set in stone, also the letters all have a meaning. code.
thanks again and will forward to dad when i see him. he too old for the internet.kevin.
