A bonus getting one with the correct airfilter as they are usually missing/damaged and very hard to find nowadays. The spark plugs should ideally face the flywheel for cooling, the cylinder heads would need to be swapped to the opposite sides, but it will run fine with them as they are at present. Phillip (Blue Cat) will tell you all you need to know but it looks to be a very tidy engine and I feel sure that your lad will get much enjoyment from it.

Pete.

Hi again Kate.
That's a nice Norman T300 Mk2 that your son has there, and largely complete and original.
I will assume the orange paint is aluminium primer as I know of no Norman engines painted orange.

Picking up on the incorrect nameplate on your other forum thread, you now need to find the correct serial number.

Norman t300 20220810

I have indicated on your picture with a white oval where you can find the correct engine serial number. It will be stamped into the crankcase in the white oval. You may need to remove the orange paint in this area to find it. It should be something like TA1234.

Lovely job!

Which reminds me, please post a couple of pics of the Lister and pump in Pride and Joy when you have a minute.

Here's an example from a Norman T300 Mk2 engine.

This one is TA7947.

Hope that helps.
