Norman t300
Hi I have just joined, as a mum whose son loves stationary engines, he is 13, he has a lister and a Leo water pump, all working fine. For his birthday I got him a norman t300, i got it from a chap that does them up, only thing is fuel tank leaks so I have ordered a good condition wolsey one off Ebay as it has bottom fixings so we can attach easily, I do not want him using a leaky one, unfortunately chap I got it off didn't know till he put it back on but I wanted it anyway as they are like rocking horse poo to find in decent condition.
I m a bit confused with the numbers on the plate as is is stamped t300 but engine no is TL 2406, the tl as I can understand it means a norman 600?, has anyone any ideas please, also it has no silencers on it, I have been looking on stationary engine parts and I may get some from them? Thanks Kate

Re: Norman t300
Hello and welcome to the forum - great to see a youngster getting involved and his mum supporting.
No doubt Phillip will be along shortly with detailed info', but as far as I'm aware Mk1's have serial number commencing with TE whereas MK2's begin TA so TL sounds odd - maybe a badly stamped E? Exhausts in good nick are like hens teeth but maybe, again, Phillip can help. With my T300 I'm probably going going to use flexible exhaust hoses connected via 'Y' piece to a single box.
Please start a new thread in New Projects/Restorations when he gets going and post a few pictures when you are able.

PS I have a manual if you need a copy.

Hi Kate, welcome to the forum.
Like Paul, I don't understand your Norman nameplate either. When you are able can you provide some pictures of your son's engine and also the nameplate so that we can address this issue. With the right number I can give you more information about your son's Norman engine.

Hi Kate,
A bit of overkill with the pics there! Don't worry we all have to learn. I've taken the liberty of deleting the excess.
As for manual, send me a personal message with your email address. Click on the button marked MP under my avatar/username. (Don't ask me why is MP not PM??) I'll look out for your message.
Please continue with a new thread in New Projects/Restorations - just my OCD needing to keep things tidy

Re: Norman t300
Thank you for the photos of the nameplate, Kate.
The engine number on the plate is clearly TL2406 and this indicates a Norman T600 engine built in 1954.
The plate looks to have been altered by someone stamping a number 3 over the 6 to change it from a T600 plate to a T300 plate.
You can also see that the 3 is slightly bigger than the T and the 00, confirming the overstamp.
My conclusion is that this is not the correct plate or serial number plate for your engine.
I will indicate on your other thread where you can find the correct serial number.
