Hello

Just joined as I find these forums a great way to share info.  I am completely new to working with Stationary engines. I have see a few a shows and always wanted to have a go and restore one.

I did a bit of research and recently bought three Lister D engines off ebay as a job lot- they are now home after hiring a small van to collect as they are heavy.

The idea is that I should be able to get a least one working and hopefully two - lets see how it goes.

Going by the serial numbers, one is from around 1935 ( 1411336  )  the other two are 63743 and 75283 so am guessing late 50s or early 60s.

This is all new to me so have ordered the restoration guide  am going to dismantle and clean up and see how it goes.

Will add a few photos later

Hello and welcome! welcome sign

Makes sense buying three engines at once as you'll end up with more than one anyway...

New Member - Just Joined Empty Few Photos of the three engines in my Garage

Post by northernboy Sun Dec 26 2021, 16:19

Got the three engines in the garage - decided to start with the oldest one and strip down as much as I could.

Gave everything a good soak in WD40 - So far all nuts and bolts have come off without issue

The drive sprocket key was rusted up solid - the key snapped off but I managed to work the sprocket loose with heat and force and this is now also off.

The flywheel could be tricky to remove so have left to soak longer. If it is really stuck fast and if I can clean up properly and repaint, it may not have to come off - lets see.

With that sprocket on, it looks like that came off a cement mixer.

Hi Andy,

Could I suggest that your last post might be better in New Projects/Restoration?
Just create a new Topic and then do a cut and paste job. Cheers.

This particular engine was sacrificed for parts but I have successfully restored one of the other engines and the third engine is currently for sale on ebay as I don't need it.

Here is a photo of the restored engine - it runs great.
