Hi just poking my head in to introduce myself. I’m Roy from Wiltshire, had an interest in stationary engines for as far back as I can remember but never owned one due to finances (well lack of), well that changed at the weekend when I picked up a BSA 320cc power unit complete with a pump attachment for the grand price of £40, to be honest I don’t have a clue if that’s a good price but felt for £40 I’d give it a go, it seems in good condition but as yet not had it running due to it seeming to have run out of sparks. Fingers crossed.
Anyway apologies for the long winded hello.

Hello and welcome! welcome sign

£40 sounds a fair price if it's complete.

Hi Roy and a very warm welcome to the forum,
Please post a few pictures of your new project in New Projects/Restorations when you are able.

P.S. I have 'BSA 320 & 420 Service sheets' as pdf. PM me if you would like a copy.

Good news, after changing the condenser there was still no spark so also changed the points, that worked and refilled the old magneto with electricky, sadly then the carb leaked something terrible, so after new gaskets and a damn good clean I refilled with petrol and gave it a gentle pull just to pull the petrol through, to my absolute amazement on that gentle pull the engine started and run a treat.
My wife thinks I’m mad but it’s actually very enjoyable just sitting and watching the old thing running, iv now to go strip the old pump down and see what needs doing to that.

Woodsman, iv PMed you, very appreciated at that kind offer.

Hi Roy,
Service sheets sent.
Are you able to post a short video (in Videos) ? If not a few pics in New Projects/Restorations would be nice.

See How to upload images in Notices

For video you could upload to Ubend and then use the YouTube button whilst editing you post. I've used https://streamable.com/ which is free but videos are deleted after a few months
