Is there room for another NEW Old'un?.
Hello all,
Thanks for letting me in. I found you when searching for vintage engine info. I also have to declare a link with New member Clivemuseum.
I'm one of his Volunteer Minions who breathes (attempts to) mechanical life into his old Mowers..... Sorry Clive, I found your post after I had registered.
I have a great interest in Classic/Vintage small engines, whether they are stationary or moving under their power etc.
I have a reasonable little workshop to tinker in. Enough projects and outstanding jobs to last me another lifetime (I'm slow).
I also recognise a few Usernames here as well, so again thanks for having me and hope to equally return any help given.
Regards.
Richard

Hi, like you I like small engines, because I haven't got room for larger ones!

Well, Many thanks all for the welcome, and specifically- Yes Mattblack I am he/it. Good to see you here.
Thanks and if you need any assistance with details on your little red B & S engine acquisition, I may be of help if you can give me Model, Spec and Serial number off of the cowling. I have a 4hp version of that type.
Regards

If it's on the silver bit there may be a problem as that is a later date replacement.

I can narrow down the Model (capacity-wise) with a count of the cylinder head bolts.
So I've worked out the Model Number, except for the first digit (*0302). If you plan to pull the head for work, piston diameter will reveal the exact model/capacity.
Should have pneumatic operated governor and I think I can see a fixed max speed device on it. Carb is a small flo-jet.
Depending on what you plan to do with it, we can get enough info to establish spare part numbers and even a parts manual.
No chance with a build date, what with the missing serial number. Possible mid sixties, but the style had a long use period.
Regards
