Currently I own a "survivor" style (ie un-restored but in good mechanical and reasonable cosmetic condition) series 2 Petter PAZ1 fixed speed Diesel.
I dug it out of the back of my unheated garage, where it has stood for around 4 years with a blanket over it.
I changed the oil, checked the tappets and wiped it over with a Paraffin rag.
It still had fuel in it from 4 years ago, but it fired right up on the first cranking with virtually no smoke
Just got to sort the governor out as it does nowt - more of which on a separate thread
Regards to all,
John B

Thanks for the nice welcome folks
@ Robotstar5 = I am based just north of Whitchurch in the small(ish) village of Malpas.
I will be using this engine as a charging unit for an off grid plot of land that is mostly used as an allotment, but also has a large(ish) shed, were I keep some of my "boys toys". I have 3 110ah leisure batteries that are normally kept topped up via Solar, but of course this is not much use in the winter
Next job is to make brackets and fit the VW alternator I have for the job.
Just hoping I can find a suitably sized ribbed belt to go round the flywheel to run the alternator
I will no doubt be yacking on about "stuff" relating to things like the governor, the minimum recommended load to keep the engine clean inside etc, but we will do that on separate threads

John
